- Description
-
Shape: Fragment of the neck and mouth of a large, iron-brown-glazed stoneware jar. In cross section the mouthrim is triangular in shape and is approximately 1.5 cm wide. The wall of the jar neck is approximately 0.6 cm thick.
Clay: The body is of a coarse dark-gray clay with many black and white inclusions and a moderate number of small air pockets. The body of the vessel burned a light brick red where the thin glaze did not cover the ware completely.
Glaze: The rich chocolate-brown glaze extends down the inside of the neck for approximately 5.0 cm. The glaze adhered to the outside of the neck less well than it did to the inside.
Decoration: None.
Marks: None.
