This small, exquisitely painted work by Albert Moore captured Whistler’s attention and inspired the style, composition, and technical methods he employed in The Three Girls. Moore’s arrangement of classically draped women against a flat background inspired by Japanese prints provided a model for Whistler, as did the combination of white with warm russet and pink tones in Pomegranates.
