This vessel is a pastiche composed of a round-bottomed vessel of the Ban Na Di tradition, with paddle-impressed texture and applied band below the rim, and a pedestal base from the Ban Chiang tradition. The unpainted Ban Na Di vessel was attached to the Ban Chiang foot, then the entire vessel was painted using red pigment with designs related to the Ban Chiang tradition. The site of Ban Na Di (in Nong Han district, Udon province) lies about twenty kilometers southwest of Ban Chiang.
