This pouring vessel takes the form of a bird, possibly the mythical garuda associated with the Hindu deity Vishnu and, more specifically, with the victory of the Khmer at Angkor over the invading army of Champa. Details of the decoration are outlined with iron pigment in a style associated with Khmer ceramic vessels formed as various animals.
