The dramatic form of this characteristically Khmer stoneware ceramic vessel is emphasized by its lustrous, deep brown glaze and minimal decoration, also typical of Khmer ceramics. The vessel's short spout indicates that it was used as a ewer for pouring water, either in a religious ritual or court ceremony, or perhaps in an upper-class domestic setting.
