Label

According to the artist, "The raw materials for the porcelain body of this jar included china stone with enough iron to add a reddish yellow tint. The glaze was mixed from a small percentage of that same china stone, ash of isu (Distylium racemosum) wood, and iron oxide. It was thickly applied and fired in fairly heavy reduction (limited oxygen). The iron in the clay and the glaze combined to produce a green glaze with an agreeable texture and soft color. The glaze appears darker where it has pooled in the grooves that I incised in the leather-hard form."
