[1] The private collector acquired the jar within the precincts of Angkor Wat during one of many trips to Angkor while living in Saigon, Vietnam (1954-1957). A workman who was cleaning out of the two rectangular pools that flank the causeway leading to the temple showed the pot, which the collector bought from him. See Curatorial Remark 1 in the object record.
