Dish: wide base, curved flaring sides, heavily potted, slightly rolled rim, rounded foot-rim, base cut with center depression, rim chip, foot-rim chipped for several inches.

Clay: very pale gray celadon porcelain with brick-red surface oxidation where exposed in firing.

Glaze: celadon of slightly olive cast, surface abraded from use on inside, less so on outside, foot-rim originally glazed has been worn and/or ground down. Red unglazed ring where supported in kiln with center spots of glaze.

Decoration: carved in paste. Inside: center, lattice-like interlocking lozenges in a diamond pattern (reminiscnet of the “cash” pattern) with a quatrefoil frame. In cavetto is a lotus and chrysanthemum scroll, and outside a foliate scroll based on the single chrysanthemum.
