- Description
-
Dish: shallow, plain rim, low square-cut foot.
Clay: stoneware, pale grayish buff, brown kiln gloss where exposed.
Glaze: thick, blue-gray, semi-opaque Jun-type ash glaze with some crackle; applied down to foot-rim with some skips, also partial on base.
- Label

Jun glaze was usually opaque and blue. This dish bears a rare and perhaps early version called "Green Jun," in which the glaze takes on the greenish, crackled appearance of some Yaozhou-type ware, another northern celadon. The shape and heavy stoneware body, however, indicate the dish's origins at a kiln producing Jun ware.
