- Description

Bowl of deep cauldron shape, rounded sides, everted lip slightly involuted at rim; foot. Fire cracks; small chips on rim.
Clay: thin white porcelain, with some flaws.
Glaze: colorless.
Decoration: painting in underglaze blue freely executed in thin lines and washes of blue with a violet tinge; blackish spots along lines. Design of deer, monkeys and birds in landscape around exterior; on interior, seated figure in landscape in enclosure on bottom of bowl, and band of diaper around lip.
Inscription: ping-tzu sui tso (^c^) (made in the year of ping-tzu [probably 1576]).
