Mesopotamian
Raqqa, 12th-13th centuryJug, bulbous pear shape on a high spreading foot; loop handle; rim broken. Mended and restored.
Clay: soft, sandy, buff.
Glaze: deep turquoise-green; areas of brilliant golden iridescence.
Decoration: painted in black under glaze.
