[1] According to Curatorial Remark 1 in the object record, the purchase details for this object are unknown; however, the print has been placed in the volume 2, number 17, issue of "The Whirlwind" (dated Saturday, October 25, 1890), opposite page 56, where a notice of its publication appears. See also, Original Whistler List, Lithographs, Freer Gallery of Art and Arthur M. Sackler Gallery Archives.
[2] The original deed of Charles Lang Freer's gift was signed in 1906. The collection was received in 1920 upon the completion of the Freer Gallery.
