 See Original Whistler List, Etchings, Freer Gallery of Art and Arthur M. Sackler Gallery Archives. Also, according to Curatorial Remark 1, G.E. Guest, 1921, in the object record: "Probably purchased from Mr. Whistler. A list of ten etchings...appears among a package of papers labelled: Invoices prior to 1893. This etching is one of that number. It is given a 1906 registration number because it was included in the inventory of that year."
 The original deed of Charles Lang Freer's gift was signed in 1906. The collection was received in 1920 upon the completion of the Freer Gallery.
