ImaginAsia Family Programs

Open Studio

All ages with adult companions
Enjoy an art-filled afternoon in the Sackler’s ImaginAsia studio. Discover artworks on a family gallery walk and work as a group on an art project to take home. Open Studio programs take place on select weekends year-round.

Art & Me Workshops

Ages 3 to 5 with adult companions
Advanced registration required
Art & Me workshops provide an early experience in the museums for preschool-age children. Programs are led by museum educators and may include stories from picture books, explorations of art materials, and guided gallery visits.

Family Workshops

Ages 6 to 12 with adult companions
Advanced registration required
School-age children and their families enjoy focused, age-appropriate experiences in the galleries and ImaginAsia studio. Workshop themes change regularly and often highlight special exhibitions. Activities may include studio projects, storytelling, poetry writing, puppetry, music, and dance.

Tween Workshops

Ages 9 to 13
Advanced registration required
Designed for tweens without adult companions, tween workshops combine gallery experiences with art-making in the classroom. Previous workshops have featured travel-writing and printmaking experiences.

Family Festivals

All ages with adult companions
Come celebrate with us! Bring the whole family to our festivals that highlight traditions from the many countries represented in our collections. Enjoy a day filled with art-making, music, dance, and more.

Summer Art Camps

Ages 7 to 12
Advanced registration required
Once school is out, summer art camps at the Freer|Sackler provide children with creative opportunities. Each camp includes interactive gallery activities, drama and team-building exercises, exposure to a variety of art materials, and projects related to Asian art and culture.
