1970년에서 1972년 플로리다주 인디앨란틱의 William F. Cassidy 중장이 적어도 1970년 12월 1일 이전부터 소장 [1] 1972년 이후 프리어미술관 소장, 1972년 12월 1일 William F. Cassidy 중장 기증품 [2]각주:[1] 해당 유물 파일 중 Cassidy 중장 소장품을 연구 및 구입을 고려하기 위해 프리어미술관으로 배송했음을 확인하는 내용의 1970년 12월 1일자 영수증 사본 참조. 이 영수증에는 버지니아주 알링턴 1422 N.아이반호에서 A. D. 와일더 부인이 배송했다고 기재되어 있음. William F. Cassidy 중장은 한국 전쟁이 발발한 1950년에 일본에 주둔하였으며, 1958년에서 1950년까지 대한민국 육군의 수석 군수 자문관으로 근무함. 작품에 붙어있는 라벨에는 “경주(Koungju로 오기) 부근 분황사에서 출토" 라고 타자기로 기입되어 있는데, 경주 부근 분황사를 의미함. [2] 유물 파일 중 William Cassidy가 발행한 1972년 12월 1일자 송장 사본 참조. Cassidy로부터 매우 적은 비용으로 구입하였기에 기증품으로 분류됨.
