일본 개인 소장가가 소장했던 것으로 추정 [1]1974년부터 1975년 버지니아주 알렉산드리아 소재의 Gilpin House에서 적어도 1974년부터 소장 [2] 1975년 이후 프리어미술관 소장, 1975년 6월 30일 Gilpin House로부터 구입 [3]각주:[1] 해당 유물 파일 중 최초 소장가가 적은 것으로 추정되는 수기 메모 사본 참조: "석기; 야마토 부족 등 고대인들이 옥수수, 물, 음식 등을 담기 위한 일상적인 용도로 제작하여 사용하고 땅에 묻었음. 일본 야요이 시기 토기는 대략 4,000년에서 2,000년 전에 제작된 것으로 추정. 패총. 도쿄, 나라 등지의 귀족 고분. 이 항아리는 한국산이 아니므로 고대 문명이 우리나라에서도 발전하였음을 보여줌. 나의 할아버지는 골동품 애호가였으나 많은 골동품을 태워버리기도 함."[2] 해당 유물 파일 중 구입을 고려하기 위해 Gilpin House 골동품점에서 프리어미술관으로 작품이 배송되었음을 확인하는 내용의 프리어미술관 발행1974년 10월 17일자 영수증 참조.[3] 해당 유물 파일 중 Gilpin House에서 프리어미술관에 발행한 1975년 6월 30일자 송장 사본 참조.
