After graduating from Tokyo Commercial High School in 1916, Hirogane worked as a chief accountant in the Nagoya Aircraft Manufacturing Division of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. As a corporate executive, he had the means to pursue his interest in photography. While residing in Nagoya in the late 1930s, he developed his style amid the city’s flourishing art photography scene and experimented with gelatin silver and bromoil prints. Hirogane was known for his rural and industrial views, likely taken in and around Aichi Prefecture.
